The Council should make sure it continues to promote and assist in kind and/or financially to festivals and events so that they continue to provide enjoyment to locals and visitors. Displays, festivals and events showing the breadth and beauty of the community in which we live.
The Council should have a budget allocation for these activities

it occurred to me that some should be done with the community rather than for the community, e.g the picket fence around the Spring Hill sports ground. Supply the material and see if you can enlist a group of men and women to build the fence. this would give an increased sense of community and comradeship in that community. some pitfalls forseeable: bad workmanship and lack of participation, but if they want badly enough, should be willing to volunteer. ditto with bandstands; who are the chief beneficiaries and would they be willing to lend a hand or enlist other tradesnmen.

I would like to see the road to the airport widened and upgraded. Parts of it are in poor condition and rough which is not a very good welcome to the city.

Please consider an option for an indoor play area for kids, as the outside options are not appropriate in winter in orange. Please also consider updating Elephant park to be an inclusive play area. An excellent example of one is the play area in Gunnedah,NSW.

New Program to Encourage Residents to Plant Gardens on the Verge in Front of Their Home
I strongly object to this proposed program. I have been a pedestrian (averaging at least 5 kilometres per day) for over 50 years in Orange. There are many obstacles I face each and every day:
- vehicles parked across driveways, forcing me to walk on the verge
- other pedestrians (so many more since COVID-19) either singly, doubly, with groups and/or with dogs/, forcing me to walk on verges
- residents already illegally planting verges, forcing me to walk on roads (Green Lane is one example)
- foliage from properties overhanging footpaths, forcing me to walk on verges or on the road
I also understand that services are located in verges - it would be a dangerous practice to potentially interfere with this.
I strongly applaud Council's work on creating new footpaths and in maintaining existing footpaths. Planting in verges would be count-productive to this.
The City is responsible for the footpaths and verges and can present a consistent approach - planting on verges would be haphazard, maintenance could not be guaranteed and the verge-planting could create safety risks (and whose responsibility would this be).

Its good to see funding being provided to Spring Hill as one of the Villages that have gone without for sometime. I support the upgrade to the recreation ground in keeping with the heritage of the town. Keep the funds coming to a growing Village.

There wasn't a section in the survey to comment about the project relating to the Recreation Ground at Spring Hill, so comment will be made here.
This project is definitely supported by the community and many of the residents in Spring Hill. Having upgrades at the Recreation Ground will allow for other community groups to utilise the space in Spring Hill for a variety of events, it makes the ground more visually appealing and adds a degree of safety to the grounds as well, which will be a significant improvement to the current fencing.
