As Director of Central West Mums, I have observed a growing need and request from Mums to build more activity centres; like an indoor rock climbing / abseiling gym. Many families move out here to spend more quality time with their children and there is a great lack of indoor activities when the weather turns. I really believe that if a fabulous attraction like the Lake Canobolas area is being developed to attract more families and people to participate in recreational activities; you need to factor in an indoor centre. This might be a combination of someone privately running it with some public funding from council or otherwise. Regards Amorette
A lot of people are taking their dogs out to the lake now, so I think there is a need for a fenced off dog park AWAY from the main areas of the lake. Separate off leash spaces for small dogs and large dogs, and a place for them to swim. Over summer people had their dogs swimming at the "beach" areas amongst children which I dont think is good.
(I am all for having dogs at the lake, I just think we need to keep them separate them from children).
Great job council on looking into the future of the lake, it was so busy last summer which is good to see.
Lake Canobolas Area has the potential to be the best inland camping area in inland NSW. It somewhat beggars belief that the future plan does not include any plans for Camping, Caravan and or RV park. Whether it be council operated or private.
(also, there is an abundance of water available, so use the lake water to water the grass in the public access areas during dry months)
Seriously? An art gallery out at the lake. What next?????
Upgrades are needed! the lake is a place of nothing. Firstly, the eastern side of the lake should be reinstated back to its former glory. A toilet block closer to the lake. The ORIGINAL FLYING FOX back. reinstall the creek system that was in there and maybe try to make it safer and cleaner. Install a built in slide into the mountainside near the playground and make it more accessible to the carpark. A cafe should be added on that side too
On the western side, a path system should be introduced with mini workout stations as well as wheelchair accessible equipment. the beaxh volleyball court should be upgraded.
The lake itself needs a clean and tidy and more platforms should be added to allow for water access at different parts.
The draft DCP is great. accomodation is needed and a big hall is needed for school groups to come to orange which gives into the economy.
