Which lighting option do you prefer for John Davis OAM Stadium?

Option 1: 1400 lux lighting (additional 1.97M excluding GST)

This is the brighter lighting option.

It would allow the stadium to host broadcast-quality night games, including televised soccer, rugby league and rugby union matches.

This option is expected to cost about $1.97 million. This cost would most likely need to be paid for by ratepayers, not through grant funding.

Option 2: 500 lux lighting (additional 474K excluding GST)

This is the lower-level lighting option.

It is designed to meet the current needs of local sport.

This option would still allow the stadium to host major televised daytime events. If a major night-time game needed broadcast-quality lighting, Council would need to bring in temporary lighting. This is estimated to cost about $70,000 each time.

• Major televised sporting events at regional venues do happen, but not often. Bathurst and Mudgee have hosted some major televised or streamed events in recent years, including a small number of night or twilight games.
