Consultation has concluded
Orange's Summer Street is lit up like a Christmas Tree.
The festoon lights overhead and fairy lights in every tree from Sale Street to Peisley Street make it brighter than ever.
In October, the upgraded, LED street lights, called the Whiteway project was also turned on. These pole based lights are on from dusk until dawn for safety.
The feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with locals and visitors alike, taking the main street route home at night to get a glimpse of the lane of lights.
But, is it too much of a good thing?
There's no denying the fairy lights and the festoons are spectacular but will we become used to them and eventually take no notice? Is it better to only turn the lights on for seasonal events, festivals or weekends?
Is it better to have only the festoons on all year round, or only the fairy lights? Perhaps we should alternate them?
The Whiteway lights will remain on every night regardless.
